The Film Crew Movies Review

As the Film Crew Trends Editor, it's my job to periodically slip the cuff on the upper arm of the celebrity corpus and take its trend pressure. Rest assured, the pacesetting behavior of people unnecessarily lauded for their desperate grasps at attention is as robust as ever.

nelsonMichael J. Nelson gained prominence playing the lovable character “Mike Nelson” for six seasons on the Emmy-nominated, Peabody Award-winning television show “Mystery Science Theater 3000.” Since that time, he has appeared on numerous radio and TV shows, penned a regular column for TV Guide, and authored three best-selling books for HarperCollins. Richard Schickel said it best: “He's more fun than a barrel of Val Kilmers, smarter than a roomful of Patrick Swayzes, and almost as hilarious as Keanu Reeves."

Bill_CorbettBill Corbett, a writer for TV’s Mystery Science Theater 3000, also played the easily-obsessed gold robot Crow and the effete alien Observer (a.k.a. Brain Guy) during the show’s Sci-Fi Channel years. Bill is also a prominent playwright whose work has been produced all over the United States, and internationally. As a stage actor, he’s performed at the famed Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota, among many other places. He’s also the co-creator of the animated series POKER NIGHT on Icebox.com.

kevin-murphyKevin Murphy has worked in just about every aspect of mass media, from grunt-work on Hollywood movies to writing and producing for TV, movies, books and radio. Perhaps best known for portraying the squat, irascible bubbleheaded robot Tom Servo on "Mystery Science Theater", Kevin also wrote and directed on the show over its ten-year run.

Recently, Kevin went to the world's theaters and saw a movie every single day for an entire year. He chronicled the experience in his bestselling book A Year At the Movies: One Man's Filmgoing Odyssey, for which Publishers Weekly proclaimed Kevin "A highbrow man of the people." Currently Kevin can be heard providing film commentary for NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday.
